Plans are in top gear for a thought-provoking night to celebrate curvy women at this year’s edition of the Kisumu Plus Size Fashion Affair (KPSFA) to be held this Saturday.
The annual event now in its third edition will be held at Imperial hotel in what promises to be a gala of high-end fashion showcase, red-carpet interviews and photos .
KPSFA CEO Winnie Wenger in a sit-down interview with Dala Magazine says the theme for this year’s event will be freedom.
“Freedom from stereotypes. Freedom from the choice of clothes. Freedom from standards set for a beautiful woman,” she states.
Adding that TV shows created perception to try and ‘re-size’ Kenyan women into a particular size is deceitful.
She expresses the desire to see women being comfortable in their skin. Aptly putting it as a night of unapologetic grown plus size women.
“Western part of Kenya has a lot of curvaceous women who are unashamed and proud about it, for this is not only an event but a day-to-day lifestyle,” she says.
The night promises to be full of surprises and for the first time, the KPSFA will be introducing a souped-up fashion open market with fashion items going for as low as Ksh.200.
Wenger says another first at the event might be a surprise swimsuit wear for the team mafisi. Hosting the event will be the curvaceous Face of KPSFA Adhiambo Opondo assisted by Radio Sahara Presenter Musa Navirye and Kisumu sensation MC Onyulo.
At least 10 designers will be dressing 10 plus size models who will be strutting the runway having gone through months of rigorous catwalk training and health talk program.
Among the designers set to showcase include Jancyjay, Montasha designs by Lauren Lonorrah, Ann Odero ,Keyngs Couture,Tigo Arts Hope designers, Lebrann, Hasssan and Onyinye bags.
Event kicks-off at 6pm.Tickets go for 700 (Ordinary) and 2000 (VIP). For reservation call +254 713 468 922.
