Carwash ‘A’ thrashed Carwash ‘B’ in a hotly contested ‘carwash-affair’ to lift the trophy in the first edition of the Onge Ringo five-a-side football tourney held over the weekend.
Carwash ‘A’ beat Carwash ‘B’ to a solitary goal emerging victorious with a cash reward of Ksh. 10,000
Five-a-side is a deviation of football in which each team fields five players. Unlike football it has a smaller pitch, smaller goals and a reduced game duration.
The tournament held at Mamboleo Show ground saw six teams register for the fun-filled family day event.
Teams were grouped into two pools ‘A’ and ‘B’.
Club Da Place, Kenya-re, Car Wash ‘A’ were drawn in Pool A with pool B consisting of Carwash B, Dream Team and Misfits (Combination of Team Barcadia and Team Racing)
Teams Kenya-Re, Car Wash ‘A’ Misfits and Car Wash ‘B’ emerged victorious in the knockout stages to qualify for semifinals.
The first semi-final match pitting Kenya-re against Carwash ‘B’ saw an evenly matched game that ended in post–match penalties 5 to 4 in favour of Carwash ‘B’.
The second semi-final game that would decide which team would face Carwash ‘B’ saw team misfits lose 1:2 to Carwash ‘A’.
Organized by Golden Entertainment CEO Kennedy Oketch and The Barcadia Football Club,Onge Ringo is a tournament that brings together group of professionals to network through football.
The tourney is further used to promote healthy living among the participants and as a marketing platform for various stakeholders.
The next tournament is scheduled for 7th July ,2018.
